This is a fantastic interpretation from Bolgheri. The 2016 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is made with fruit from the same vineyard plots that go into the Bolgheri Superiore, only this is a second selection if you will. Generally speaking, fruit from the younger vines goes here. This wine gives us a very pretty glimpse of what we can expect of the high-end releases from this classic vintage. The fruit is rock solid, delineated, tonic and firm. The pleasure factor awarded here is very high thanks to the wine’s inner softness, silky tannins and soothing extract. The bouquet is seamless and pristine. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and 12% Cabernet Franc.

Best from 2021 through 2035. 7,500 cases made, Only 1,500 cases imported.

A delightful nose of creme de cassis, hot stones and crushed violets and spices. Full body, chewy and super polished tannins and a long finish, which really takes off thanks to electric acidity. An essay in balance and depth. Best ever. Puts Argentiera with the best of the best in Tuscany. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

I love the currant and rosemary character of this wine. Some sage, too. Complex aromas that draw you in. Full body, extremely tight and chewy with a long and intense finish. The tannins are fantastic – so polished. Focused and beautiful. Mineral undertone with ash and hot stone highlighting the dark fruits. It goes on for minutes. Needs three or four years to come together. But a serious red all the way. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petite Verdot.
