Description

Set on the slopes of the Great Drakenstein Mountain range the Rupert Wines Estate comprises two historic farms: L’Ormarins and Anthonij Rupert Estate. Today the Estate houses two tasting rooms, four state-of-the-art cellars, a lovingly tended rose garden, vineyards, the Franschhoek Motor Museum and the Drakenstein Stud Farm. Thus offering up a great variety of things to do and see at the Rupert Wines Estate.

Protea 2023 Pinot Grigio Western Cape South Africa
Light aromas of stone fruit with nectarine and peach blossom to the fore. Fresh fruity and lively entry to the mouth with both peach, crunchy apple and nectarine flavors. That bright, lively tropicality is tempered by good acidity and a light touch of pebble or slate. Good body and length.

Protea 2023 Chenin Blanc Western Cape South Africa
Apricot and stone fruit aromas also show a light lemon and gravel nuance. The palate is bright and thrilling with crisp acid zip, nicely taut and tangy, balanced by ripe fruit notes of apricot, melon, and quince. There is also a lively lemon zest succulence. A light and refreshing mouthful which is so appealing and has you coming back for more. Ideal for summer.

Protea 2023 Dry Rose Coastal Region South Africa
Tempting aromas of raspberry, strawberry and ripe red cherries. The palate delivers what the nose promises: ripe, bright red berry fruit. Add crispness from pleasing acidity to the mix along with a dryness that leaves the mouth crisp and clean with a lingering fruit memory. Refreshing and pleasant, it’s ideal for summer.

Anthonij Rupert 2019 Optima Franschhoek Western Cape South Africa
Violet, blackberry, cherry, cocoa, spice, and fruit-cake scents instantly seduce. In a single whiff, classic Black Forest gateau. The mouth is soft, rounded, velvety, and loving with a dry tail with the same ripe and rich flavors. It is supple, textured, and elegant, offering focus, structure, and a velvety appeal. Layered, complex, cohesive, and satisfying.

Anthonij Rupert 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Franschhoek Western Cape South Africa
Leafy hedgerow fruit, graphite, spice and cedar with a tobacco leaf nuance on the nose. Complex and inviting. More ripe berry fruit is found in the mouth: cherry, youngberry, blackberry and plums. Pretty in its succulence and pliability. Vibrant spice adds to the complexity. The palate is softly textured and approachable, supple but also muscular with its squeeze of dry tannin from time in barrel. Lovely long, lingering finish which offers up graphite and dried herbs. Layered, complex and rich but also elegant and refined.

Anthonij Rupert 2018 Cabernet Franc Franschhoek Western Cape South Africa
Bright floral notes of cherry blossom and violet mingle with dark fruit, pencil shavings, cedar and spice aromatics. A plush entry to the palate with succulent plum and black cherry, dusted with spice. Refined, poised and structured, the oak frames the fruit well and also plays with the rich cocoa and cedar nuances. There’s a brooding power which remains in check. Complex and silky with a lingering finish.
