  • Aperture Cellars 2018 Red Blend

    $59.99

    Alexander Valley California
    Wine Advocate 96 Rating
The 2018 Red Blend is composed of 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 22% Malbec, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. The nose offers vibrant berry scents with accents of charcuterie, mint chocolate, cigar wrapper, violets and pencil shavings aromas, and the palate is powerful but featherweight, silky and fresh with a very long, layered finish. I love this balance of ripe fruit, mineral nuance, aromatic purity and structural power. This has the potential to grow into even more of a beauty with some time in bottle.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon charges from the gate with exuberant red and black cherries notes, black currants and mulberries with a beautiful roses and lavender perfume, plus hints of sandalwood and cinnamon stick. Full-bodied, concentrated and downright explosive in the mouth, it is still wearing loads of gorgeous puppy-fat fruit flavors, offering suggestions of the complex, multilayered blockbuster that it will emerge into. The structure deserves its own mention: wonderful, seamless freshness and oh-so-fine, pixelated tannins, with an extraordinary persistence of fruit and mineral nuances. Wow. R33-2

  • Aspirant de Beychevelle 2018 Saint-Julien

    $39.99$210.00

    Bordeaux France
Let’s start with the territory. We are in Saint-Julien, a renowned wine region located in the Bordeaux region. Here, the production is mainly focused on red wines, especially from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. Known for their elegance, structure and longevity. Saint-Julien extends over a relatively small territory. Despite this, it is home to some of the most prestigious wineries in the Bordeaux region. Here, the soils are rich in pebbles that ensure good drainage, creating the ideal conditions for growing vines. This is particularly the case of Beychevelle, whose vines are located on the magnificent gravel slopes that slope down to the Garonne and in the immediate vicinity of the Gironde. In addition, the presence of the two rivers guarantees a beneficial and regulating effect on the climate. 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc, this red Bordeaux fully respects the soul of its terroir of origin. Garnet red and compact, the nose reveals notes of black fruits, with notes of cedar and aromatic herbs. On the palate, on the other hand, it reveals a pleasantly full-bodied wine, with firm and well-integrated tannins. Juicy and flavorful, it has a well-balanced structure, with a savory finish. An excellent “second wine” of the Château, it is perfect to accompany meat-based lunches and dinners. Its value for money is also excellent.

  • Aubert 2015 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard

    $199.99

    Carneros California
    Wine Advocate 98 Rating
The 2015 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is a toasty, nutty, baked peaches and pear tart sex bomb, with an incredible array of nuances on the nose conjuring notions of struck flint, earth, meat, baking bread and allspice. Medium to full-bodied, rich and oh-so-sensuous, it delivers incredible fruit, savory layers and a very long finish. SP32-1

  • Aubert 2016 Chardonnay Eastside Vineyard

    $224.99

    Russian River Valley
    Jeb Dunnuck 100 Rating
Another perfect wine is the 2016 Chardonnay Eastside Vineyard, which comes from a site on the east side of the Russian River Valley. All from a suitcase clone from Montrachet, it has a perfumed, vibrant bouquet of caramelized green citrus, crushed rocks, orange blossom, and candied ginger. While it’s a full-bodied, powerful wine, it has an incredible sense of freshness and purity, with more saline/oyster shell notes developing as it sat in the glass. It’s another tour de force from Mark Aubert! SP32-2

  • Aubert 2016 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard

    $199.99

    Sonoma Coast California
    Jeb Dunnuck 100 Rating
Leading off the Pinot Noirs, this is unquestionably the finest set of releases from the estate I’ve ever tasted, and it appears some of the magic Mark finds with his Chardonnays is finding its way over to the Pinot Noirs. The 2016 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard is 100% Calera clone (which reportedly comes from Vosne-Romanée) from a site in the Sonoma Coast and was brought up in 60-70% new French oak. It also saw around 10-20% whole clusters. Incredible ripe cherries, strawberries, exotic spices, blood orange, and floral notes all soar from this transparently colored, multi-dimensional, layered Pinot Noir that has no hard edges, ultra-fine tannin, and a finish that just won’t quit. It’s the finest Pinot Noir ever made from this address. SP7-5

  • Aubert 2016 Pinot Noir UV-SL Vineyard

    $199.99

    Sonoma Coast California
    Jeb Dunnuck 99 Rating
The 2016 Pinot Noir UV-SL Vineyard flirts with perfect and is another incredible effort from the Sonoma Coast. Deeply colored, with ripe cherries, underbrush, black currants, graphite, blood orange, and forest floor notes, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, ample tannin, a big mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. Despite being a rich, powerful wine, it shows remarkable elegance and purity, as well as a weightless, seamless texture. SP9-2

The 2017 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard is medium ruby-purple colored with exuberant redcurrants, black cherries and black raspberries notes with hints of violets, chocolate box and rose hip tea. The palate is full-bodied with a firm frame of fine-grained tannins and amazing freshness, finishing very long and juicy. R1-5 SP5-2
