Deep garnet-purple in color, it skips out of the glass with lively blueberries, redcurrants and kirsch scents, plus hints of cedar chest, fragrant earth and rose hip tea.     The 2018 Frederick is based on 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 23% Merlot, and 16% Syrah , all from the Walla Walla Valley, that spent 19 months in 40% new French oak. It has a great nose of ripe red and black fruits as well as notes of chocolate, dried herbs, and loamy soils, with subtle background oak. Medium to full-bodied, it has firm tannins, a solid core of sweet fruit, and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar and drink brilliantly over the following decade. R16-6
