I loved the 2020 Chateau De Sales from barrel, and it’s showing beautifully from bottle. Sporting a deep purple hue as well as a ripe, sexy, medium to full-bodied style, it has ripe, supple tannins, a layered, balanced mouthfeel, and classic aromatics of ripe black cherries, plums, licorice, spring flowers, and damp earth. It’s another beautiful, layered, elegant Pomerol in the vintage that will benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age. Best After 2026. SPBX-12 -

80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc aged in 100% new oak barrels. Chateau Du Parc comes from two parcels, one next to Fleur Cardinale and one next to Monbousquet. This wine has a rounded and opulent bouquet with a boysenberry jam and raspberry nose. Modern in style, the palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and good acidity. The wine has a rich red color with sheen and great intensity. Very ripe, red fruit notes on the nose contrast with spicy notes for beautiful complexity. On the palate, it has a great onset: frank, direct and sustained by beautiful red fruits that linger in the mouth throughout the tasting. Spicy and light wooden notes are present throughout.

This beauty offers a medium ruby color to go with a terrific perfume of sweet cherry and dark fruits that are supported by loads of leafy herbs, damp earth, and even hints of graphite. Shockingly deep, medium-bodied, and beautifully concentrated, with ripe tannins, it shines for its purity and nuance but offers serious intensity as well. It’s a fabulous wine to drink over the coming 10-15 years.

The second wine of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou matches many châteaux’s Grand Vins. Their 2020 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou (52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot) reveals a dense purple hue as well as full-bodied array of cassis, graphite, liquid violets, and tobacco. It has tons of minerality, a stacked mid-palate, and ripe tannins. Give bottles 2-4 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following two decades. SPBX-6
