Domaine Barville 2018 Chateauneuf-du-Pape
$34.99 – $360.00Southern Rhone Valley France
Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
Fermentation and maturation in new French oak lends lavish streaks of vanilla, cinnamon and toast to this varietal Roussanne, but there’s plenty of concentrated pineapple, tangerine and apple too. It’s hedonistic and creamy in texture but beautifully structured. This wine should gain balance and integration over the next decade.

Domaine Beauséjour 2022 Les Grenettes Sauvignon Blanc Touraine
$21.99 – $216.00Loire Valley France
Closer to Sancerre than your average Touraine Sauvignon Blanc, it’s clear from the start this is a remarkable wine. Even a slight swirl of the glass releases delicate lily, boxwood, and honeysuckle botanical notes that complement peach and lychee, not just the far more common one-note grapefruit. A deeper breath reveals all the subtleties of the grapes. Its velvety texture is shot through with well-integrated yet bracing acidity and a snap of chalky minerality that keep the wine both lively and supple. A round, full finish lingers long enough to reprise the nose’s floral aspects that serve as a foil to the luscious golden stone fruit. A natural pairing with moules marinières, a chèvre and herb omelet, or heartier salads, but equally delicious on its own.

Domaine Bernard & Thierry Glantenay 2015 Volnay Les Santenots 1er Cru
$99.99Burgundy France
Vinous 93 Rating
The 2015 Volnay 1er Cru shows a lot of reduction on the nose that makes the fruit and terroir difficult to read at the moment. The palate probably indicates the potential more than the aromatics, offering brambly red and black fruit, a sprinkle of white pepper and hints of dried orange peel toward the refined, persistent finish. This certainly requires time in bottle but the potential is here. Patience, please. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. SP1-5 -
Domaine Bouchard Pere et Fils 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin
$79.99 – $420.00Burgundy France
Enjoyabilityfactor 95 Rating
The 2020 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin is a captivating red wine that exudes the essence of its prestigious terroir. Upon first encounter, the nose is greeted by a harmonious blend of red and dark fruits, with ripe cherries and blackberries taking the lead, intertwined with subtle hints of dried herbs and a delicate floral undertone. As the wine graces the palate, its velvety texture envelops the senses, offering a symphony of flavors that mirror the aromas. The fruit character deepens and expands, revealing layers of raspberry, plum, and a touch of cranberry, all underscored by a subtle thread of earthiness that speaks to the wine's origins. The well-integrated tannins provide an elegant structure that supports the wine's profile without overpowering it, leading to a graceful and enduring finish. A judicious touch of oak adds a gentle layer of complexity, infusing hints of spice and vanilla that harmonize seamlessly with the fruit. The 2020 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin captures the essence of the vintage and the terroir, embodying the perfect balance between fruit expression, elegance, and depth. Whether savored on its own or paired with a range of culinary delights, this Gevrey-Chambertin is a true testament to Burgundy's winemaking heritage and will undoubtedly evolve beautifully with time. Domaine Cabirau 2015 First Things First
$34.99 – $179.94Maury Sec Roussillon France
Wine Advocate 93-96 Rating
A new cuvee from Dan Kravitz, the 2015 Maury Sec First Things First is a blend of 60% Grenache, 22% Carignan and 18% Syrah that had 75% of the crop brought in at the “correct” time, and 25% brought in over a week later due to broken equipment in the cellar. Scheduled to be bottled in August or October, it offers sensational notes of black raspberries, cassis, violets and graphite as well as full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannin and an undeniable sexiness that makes it already impossible to resist. Count me a fan and I’d suggest breaking more equipment during harvest in the future as well (or just harvest later). SWSBuy this by the 6pk for $29.99 per bottle

Domaine Capuano-Ferreri 2019 Santenay 1er Cru La Comme
$39.99 – $396.00Burgundy France
A very beautiful dress pulling on the cherry red supported, with purplish ruby reflections. Very aromatic in classic Pinot Noir ranges: berries (raspberry, currant, blueberry) and spices (pepper, cinnamon). It is immediately presented in sweet and tender features with a nice suite of fruity aromas. Round, rich and long in the mouth it is serious and accomplished, supported by velvety tannins.

Domaine Charvin 2019 Chateauneuf Du Pape

The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape from Laurent is the usual blend of 82% Grenache and the rest nearly equal parts Syrah, Mourvèdre, Vaccarèse, and Counoise that was brought up all in concrete tank. It shows the sunny, spicy, Provençal style of the vintage beautifully while still having incredible freshness in its red and black fruits as well as garrigue, ground pepper, spring flowers, and incense aromas and flavors. Gorgeous on the palate as well, this medium to full-bodied Châteauneuf du Pape is balanced and has terrific tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. Rhône lovers need to have this beauty in their cellar, and it's going to offer pleasure for a solid two decades. R21-2 -
Domaine Christelle Betton 2018 “Caprice” Crozes-Hermitage Rouge
$39.99 – $420.00Northern Rhone Valley France
‘Caprice’ means whim in French, and could describe the feelings of a passionate winemaker as she guides her vines through the challenges and often heartaches of each vintage. A selection of the estate’s oldest vines, this pure Syrah wine is raised in older French oak barrels for one year. Licorice, cocoa, candied violets; black fruits and pepper.
