Domaine Faiveley 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes
$69.99Burgundy France
The nose is elegant, and racy and offers a certain power. It reveals notes of boysenberry, violet, and more slightly – notes of bright wild berries associated with touches of smoke, pepper, bright black plum as well as hints of spice, camphor and a subtle almost saline note. The palate is fruity and offers juiciness, minerality, a tangy frame, a nice freshness, subtlety, a certain straightness (all in elegance), harmony, finesse, tension as well as a nice delicate touch on the palate. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/creamy blackberry, juicy/tangy blackcurrant, and more slightly – notes of pulpy raspberry associated with touches of cornflower, violet, juicy/tangy cherry as well as slight hints of small tangy/bright blue fruits, vanilla, toast and nutmeg. The tannins are soft and elegant. Good length. R21-5 -

The 2020 Mercurey 1er Cru Clos du Roy wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries and plums mingled with hints of raw cocoa and forest floor. Domaine Faiveley 2020 Mercurey Vieilles Vignes
$39.99 – $222.00Burgundy France
Wine Advocate 90 Rating
The 2020 Mercurey Vieilles Vignes wafts from the glass with aromas of cassis, loamy soil, dark chocolate and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a deep, layered core of fruit that's framed by powdery tannins and lively acids, it's a touch more muscular than the 2019 rendition.

Glass-staining ruby. A bright mineral overtone complements expansive blackberry, smoky bacon, olive and potpourri aromas. Broad on the palate, offering concentrated black and blue fruit, salty olive and floral pastille flavors and a suggestion of exotic spices. Finishes with repeating mineral, floral and dark fruit character, steadily building tannins and excellent persistence.

Ripe stone fruit aromas, spanning peach, pineapple and yellow apple. It’s tangy and tactile on first attack, then the creaminess takes over giving a rounded feel. The lemon acidity then sweeps in and washes away the creamy ripeness, leaving a limey, lemony lick. It’s warm and sunny in aroma, so the palate surprises with its freshness and salinity.

Domaine Gachot 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Herbues
$64.99 – $348.00Côte-de-Nuits Burgundy France
The pretty nose smells fabulously of Pinot Noir. The palate has good, juicy flesh to it, and the tannin/acid balance, well even in Burgundy you rarely find such an elegant balance. As red Burgundy or Pinot Noir, I think you will agree that this is an incredible value. R24-1 SP1-2

Raspberry and dried orange peel play table tennis on the nose with an audience of Darjeeling tea, moist earth and dried field grass. The midpalate echoes the nose while at once channeling a red-and-black fruit mix that dances between your cheeks and doesn’t let you reduce the wine to one or the other. The finish is long, complex and welcoming.

Stunning! Almost too hard to describe and I guess the reason for that is we don't taste enough red Burgundy at this quality level often enough! Usually we think in terms of a feminine style of Pinot Noir. In this case, massive power combined with concentrated, lavish, extravagant and richly textured flavors. Put some in the cellar! SP1-3
