A structured blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and tiny pinches of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this barrel-selection wine is sourced from an estate-grown block. It is graceful yet intense, with powerfully integrated tannins and lasting oak that support flavors of black cherry and cassis accented in cedar and clove. It will do well in the cellar; enjoy from 2026–2031. R36-1 -
Duckhorn Vineyards 2019 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
$114.99 – $582.00Napa Valley California
Wine Spectator 93 Rating
A dark, winey version, featuring heavy steeped black currant and black cherry notes that are still tightly coiled up, with graphite, tar and sweet tobacco notes. Reveals a buried sleek iron accent, which lends length and focus through the structured yet racy finish. A textbook Howell Mountain Cabernet. Drink now through 2035.

Duckhorn Vineyards 2019 Merlot Three Palms Vineyard 1.5 Lt

I like the savory nose here, with notes of coffee, spiced plum, overturned earth and bark. Full-bodied with fine, silky tannins. Expressive, but focused, with really clean and clear dark fruit blending nicely with ground spice and grilled herbs. Totally delicious. This will age very nicely.

Dunn 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain offers good density, but in more of a medium-bodied style that is quite a bit more approachable than is the norm here. A whole range of inky Howell Mountain fruit, graphite, grilled herb, licorice, spice, chocolate, and lavender nuances open up in a brooding, resonant Cabernet that needs a few years in bottle to start drinking well. There is plenty of the structure readers have come to expect from Dunn, but less youthful austerity, which is not a bad thing at all. SP29-2 -
Durfort-Vivens 2019 Les Plantes
$39.99Margaux Bordeaux France
Wine Enthusiast 97 Rating
Maturing in two-thirds barrels and one-third amphorae, this wine is already beautiful. Made from 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, it shows a fine balance between dense tannins and elegant, ripe black fruit. The promise for this biodynamic wine is immense and certainly long-term. SP48-6 CF-2 -
E. Guigal 2017 La Landonne Côte-Rôtie
$399.99Northern Rhone Valley
Jeb Dunnuck 97-100 Rating
A ripe, sexy nose of smoked game, truffly earth, chocolate, and jammy black and blue fruits emerge from the 2017 Côte Rôtie La Landonne. Made from 100% Syrah from the schist soils of the La Landonne lieu-dit, aged four years in oak, this massive, full-bodied 2017 shows the sexier, riper style of the vintage, yet it has incredible tannins, a deep, layered mid-palate, and nothing out of place. It will be interesting to see if it hits the heights of past great vintages, such as 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, or 2003, but it’s certainly in the same ballpark. R13-1 -
E. Guigal 2020 Condrieu La Doriane
$119.99 – $660.00Northern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 99 Rating
Just about pure perfection and one of the finest Condrieu to pass my lips, the 2020 Condrieu La Doriane offers an insane bouquet of grilled pineapple, charcoal, crushed stone, acacia flowers, and white peach. It picks up an incredibly sense of salinity on the palate and is full-bodied, has blockbuster concentration, remarkable purity and focus, and a great finish. I like this beast/beauty today, but it will keep for a decade. SPB10-6

Intense aromas of black fruit, cocoa powder, black olives, dried violets, tar and cigar box. Some black peppercorn, too. It’s full-bodied with firm, chalky tannins. Incredible intensity and purity of fruit with gorgeous breadth and depth. Superb, new-wave Napa red. 80% cabernet sauvignon, the rest mostly Cabernet Franc with a hit of Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2023. 3,170 cases made. R9-1 SP25-1 -
Epoch Estate Wines 2015 Estate Red
$59.99Paso Robles California
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
What used to be the entry-level effort of the estate, the 2015 Estate Blend is year in, year out at an incredible quality level that it’s hard to think of the wine those terms. The 2015 is 52% Syrah, 26% Mourvèdre, 13% Grenache, and the rest Tempranillo and Zinfandel, all from the Paderewski and Catapult vineyards on the west side of Paso Robles. It offers a terrific bouquet of black plums, ground pepper, charred meats and charcoal. Full-bodied, smoky, meaty, and rich, it stays light and graceful on the palate, with sweet tannins. SP20-1
