Heitz 2015 Martha’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
$299.99Napa Valley California
James Suckling 98 Rating
Structured and powerful with chewy and firm tannins with a light vanilla and currant undertone. Full bodied. Juicy and savory. Luscious and intense yet polished. Tension, energy and wonderful length and brightness. Drinkable but needs another three to four years to come around. R4-4 SP26-2 -
Heitz 2017 ‘Lot C-91’ Cabernet Sauvignon
$89.99 – $720.00Napa Valley California
James Suckling 96 Rating
Wow. Such a racy and exciting nose! This is quite agile and nimble, full of red and blue berries in the forefront, then complemented by spiced orange, earl grey, red plums, potpourri, savory plums and chocolate. Tense and elegant on the palate, which is all about succulent red berries, nuance and texture. Nothing redundant here. A great Napa cabernet sauvignon that has real definition. A beauty by all accounts!

This is a spicy, sublime and expansive wine, full bodied no doubt, yet brimming in freshness and complexity. It is red-fruit driven and dazzles in white and black pepper, accented by dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg. It has a long-lasting texture and richness. SP16-2 -
Herman Story Wines 2020 Bolt Cutter
$59.99 – $330.00Paso Robles California
Antonio Galloni 94 Rating
As usual with Herman Story wines, there's nothing shy about this blockbuster blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Petit Verdot, 20% Syrah and 3% Malbec from several vineyards across the Central Coast, with 24 months in 84% new French oak. The 93-94 point raves will emerge as folks get to taste this, with big, plush, mouthfeel nicely balanced by the wine's density and chewy, charmingly rustic, finish. A big wine for big meat over the next decade or so. R4-2

Herman Story Wines 2020 Casual Encounters
$59.99 – $330.00Paso Robles California
Inkier colored, the Casual encounters is a blend of 58% Mourvèdre, 34% Syrah, and 8% Grenache. Lots of mulled black fruits, smoked meat, barbecue, and peppery notes emerge from the glass. It’s full-bodied, super-rich, and concentrated, yet still stays light on its feet and beautifully balanced. It’s a classic, sweetly fruited, sexy wine to enjoy over the coming 5-7 years or so. R2-2

Herman Story Wines 2020 First Time Caller
$59.99 – $330.00Paso Robles California
Antonio Galloni 94 Rating
Inky black-purple in the glass, the wine is totally opaque, thickly coating the glass. All about massive opulence and pleasure-giving fruit, this bodacious 15.9% ABV Petite Sirah is dark as night in the glass. Layered and substantially more complex than it initially seems, there is real structural definition underneath the hedonism. A line of energy and a framework of fine tannins supports the array of blackberry, black cherry, coffee, dark chocolate, black pepper and smoke notes. Pair with spicy ribs or grilled ribeye, by itself or even a cigar. A seriously cool wine of great impact! R3-2

Hess 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt Veeder
$89.99Napa Valley California
The 2019 estate-grown Cabernet provides an exemplary expression of the sophistication, complexity, and structure that we’ve come to expect from their mountain fruit. The Cabernet Sauvignon produces aromas of ripe, wild, mountain raspberry, along with gentle notes of vanilla caramel. The subtle touch of Malbec adds a soft, mouth-filling texture on the palate. Enticing flavors of dark plum, licorice, cocoa and vanilla oak spice unite to create a supple wine that lingers for a pleasing finish. SP31-1 -
Horsepower Vineyards 2018 Grenache Sur Echalas Vineyard

There are two Grenache cuvées under the Horsepower label, both single vineyards. Starting with the 2018 Grenache Sur Echalas Vineyard, it has a deeper ruby/plum color as well as a spectacular nose of ripe cherry and strawberry fruits intermixed with lots of white pepper, dried flowers, orange blossom, and sandalwood. With medium to full-bodied richness, firm tannins, and beautiful depth of fruit on the palate, it might be the closest thing to Rayas that I've tasted, from anywhere. It remains to be seen if this can evolve into the same category at maturity, but no kidding around, this is a beautiful, elegant, seamless Grenache. It needs 3-4 years, if not longer, to let some tannins melt away, and it should have a solid 20 years of longevity. This is 100% Grenache bottled at 13.8% alcohol. R13-2 SP19-1 -
Horsepower Vineyards 2020 Syrah The Tribe Vineyard

This Tribe called best Syrah is positively hunger-inducing. The wine’s medium-rare steak with herb butter aroma is joined by notes of blackberry compote and fresh-mowed hay. Pie cherry, smoky lapsang souchang tea and bacon fat flavors continue the theme. Surprisingly electric acidity is the equal of all that fruit, along with fine-grained tannins. SPBX-3
