This full-blown, toast- and butter-scented wine boasts rich fruits, a mouthfilling texture and a lingering finish. Spicy toasted-oak aromas lead to vanilla, poached pears, toasted almonds and cream flavors that swell on the palate and linger on the finish. R39-3

Three Sticks 2023 Pinot Noir Gap’s Crown Vineyard

    Price range: $69.99 through $348.00

    Sonoma Coast California
    The Tasting Panel 95 Rating
If there’s a superstar site in Petaluma Gap, it’s Gap’s Crown Vineyard, where persistent winds and fog ensure a long hangtime. The results show in this exciting whole-cluster red aged 15 months in (45% new) French oak. A pinch of earthiness lightly touches cinnamon-dusted cherries as the liquid’s delicacy graces the palate like a lace veil. Pomegranate is spiced with clove and bright acidity imparts freshness, satisfying through the juicy, dark-fruited finish. R3-3

  • Turley 2014 Petite Sirah Library Vineyard Napa Valley

Turley 2014 Petite Sirah Library Vineyard Napa Valley

    $99.99

    California
    Wine Advocate 95 Rating
Noticeably floral with blueberries and blackberries is the 2014 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard, from a site adjacent to the Hayne Vineyard on the back streets of St. Helena. Again, this has civilized tannins that are silky and well-integrated, followed by a wine with an enormous wealth of fruit, lavish concentration, and extravagant texture and richness. It is always hard to peg when these will hit full maturity, but this one has a good 5-10 years of development and should keep for three decades as well. SP19-1

  • Turley 2016 Petite Sirah Hayne Vineyard Napa Valley

Turley 2016 Petite Sirah Hayne Vineyard Napa Valley

    $114.99

    California
    Wine Advocate 96 Rating
he 2016 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is the most perfumed and elegant of Turley’s Petite Syrahs (they don’t spell it “Sirah”) this year, unfurling in the glass with a pure and fragrant bouquet of cassis, dark plums, rose petals and pencil lead. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with a deep core of vibrant, juicy fruit, satiny but abundant tannins and a long finish. It’s an exceptional wine from a singular vineyard. SP15-1

  • Turley 2016 Petite Sirah Pesenti Vineyard Paso Robles

Turley 2016 Petite Sirah Pesenti Vineyard Paso Robles

    $89.99

    California
    Wine Advocate 94 Rating
Generous and dramatic, the 2016 Petite Syrah Pesenti Vineyard is quite different in profile from Turley's Petite Syrahs (they don't spell it “Sirah”) from the North Coast, bursting from the glass with a rich bouquet of balsamic cherry, dark fruit compote and grilled meat. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, lavish and expansive, with plush but abundant tannins, juicy acids and an ample core of fruit. SP15-2

  • Tyler 2019 Mae Estate Chardonnay

    Tyler 2019 Mae Estate Chardonnay

    $69.99

    Santa Rita Hills California
    Wine Advocate 97 Rating
Mae Estate is brand new cuvée from Tyler. “This place came on the market in 2014,” explains winemaker Justin Tyler Willett. “We had contemplated buying a place, so we will break ground here in 2022 on a new winery.” Located in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation on marine sediment soils, the Mae Estate will become the new home for Tyler wines. The 2019 Chardonnay Mae Estate is a beautiful first iteration. The nose features creamy panna cotta, lemon peel and pastry aromas streaked with sweet spice, and the palate has a unique satiny texture that coats the mouth and draws out its plush, creamy citrus and apricot layers. Don't hesitate to try this promising new cuvée from Tyler. R30-4

  • Verite 2011 La Joie Bordeaux Blend

Verite 2011 La Joie Bordeaux Blend

    $149.99

    Sonoma County California
    Jeb Dunnuck 96 Rating
The 2011 La Joie is also gorgeous and about as classy as they come. Based on 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and the rest small quantities of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec, it’s a Bordeaux look-alike with its cassis and darker currant fruits as well as lead pencil, flowers, and cedary herb-like aromatics. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has terrific tannins, a wonderful sense of elegance, and a great finish.
