Vineyard 29 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 Aida Vineyard
$226.99Napa Valley California

On the valley floor, with an almost Châteauneuf du Pape layer of small stones, is the Aida Estate, one of my favorite vineyards just north of St. Helena. The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate is a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc aged 20 months in three-fourths new French oak. The good news is that there are 800 cases of this magnificent wine, with a somewhat Graves-like scorched-earth, charcoal, burning ember-scented nose, with notes of hot earth, blackberry and cassis fruit. Big, full-bodied, exuberant and rich, this thick, unctuously textured, purple wine should drink beautifully for 25-30 or more years. -
Wayfarer 2017 Pinot Noir Wayfarer Vineyard
$89.99Sonoma Coast California
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The largest production cuvée based on a mix of clones, the 2017 Pinot Noir Wayfarer Vineyard was mostly destemmed and spent 15 months in 50-60% new French oak. It reveals a bright ruby-tinged color and offers a feminine style in its notes of raspberries, flowers, rose hips, and spice. It’s fine, incredibly elegant, has fine tannins, and just glides over the palate. SP7-6 -
Westwood Legend 2018 Red Blend
$44.99Sonoma County California
Wine Enthusiast 94 Rating
This combines 45% Syrah, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Mourvèdre, 6% Cabernet Franc and handfuls of Tannat and Petit Verdot. It shows bursts of lavender, game and violet, with traces of white pepper. Altogether the wine is velvety, smooth, softly tannic and robust. BX-6 -
William Fevre 2018 Chablis Vaillons Premier Cru
$69.99Burgundy France
Wine Enthusiast 94 Rating
This wine's intriguing nose combines rich candlewax with bright lemon oil. The palate is rounded and smooth, with buffered freshness on the mid palate. It is here that the sense of chalky depth comes in, conveying a stony, austere hinterland for which 2018's generous fruit is mere window dressing. With its depth, the wine expresses the vintage beautifully. R8-2 -
William Fevre 2021 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru
$99.99Burgundy France
Wine Advocate 95 Rating
Aromas of orange zest, peach, oyster shells, white flowers and freshly baked bread preface the 2021 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos, a full-bodied, layered and textural wine of impressive breadth and depth in this vintage, exhibiting considerable concentration and concluding with a long, electric finish. This will delight Chablis purists. R37-2 -
Yves Boyer-Martenot 2020 Meursault Les Tillets
$99.99Burgundy France
Wine Advocate 90 Rating
The 2020 Meursault Les Tillets opens with notes of crisp green apple, freshly baked bread, white flowers and crushed mint. Medium-bodied, satiny and elegant, it’s lively and precise, with a pretty core of fruit and a mouthwatering finish. R2-1 -
Zorzal Wines 2016 Eggo Tinto de Tiza
$19.99Tupungato Mendoza Argentina
Wine Advocate 95 Rating
The incredible 2016 Eggo Tinto de Tiza was cropped from one of the coolest years in recent times, which provided a slow ripening of the grapes and resulted in wines with higher natural acidity. This wine is now exclusively Malbec from Gualtallary. It fermented with 10% full clusters and indigenous yeasts in egg-shaped concrete vats, where the wine matured for ten months. It’s super aromatic, with notes of thyme, oregano, spices and something earthy, like the countryside after the rain. It’s young and has an explosive, vibrant palate with electric acidity and chalky tannins. 2016 could very well be the finest vintage to date, one of those vintages that will be legendary. This is just unbelievable for the price. -
Zuccardi 2017 Malbec Concreto
$34.99Mendoza Argentina
James Suckling 96 Rating
This is a unique wine for Mendoza with a cool-fruit and serious slate character. Undertones of dried herbs and bark. Full body, integrated fruit and tannins. Wet earth, too. Reminds me of the reds in Spain's Galicia, but so new in Argentina. Drink now but better in 2020. SP40-3
