Spottswoode 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
$299.99Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 100 Rating
Share Tweet
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 89.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6.5% Cabernet Franc and 4.0% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs of lot of swirling to unlock the most gorgeous perfume of bright black and red cherries, fresh blueberries and blackcurrant pastilles with hints of roses, cinnamon stick and orange peel. Medium-bodied, elegant and tightly wound, the palate shimmers with SO MUCH energy, featuring layer upon layer of floral, savory and crunchy black fruit notes, finishing long and minerally. This is a remarkably poised, seemingly effortless beauty that cannot fail to make your jaw drop. Forget it in the cellar for a good 3-5 years, at least, to allow all those nuances to fully emerge and then savor it over the next 30 years+. R22-4 SP30-2 -

Spring Valley Vineyard 2018 Frederick
$49.99 – $270.00Walla Walla Valley Washington State
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
The 2018 Frederick is based on 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 23% Merlot, and 16% Syrah , all from the Walla Walla Valley, that spent 19 months in 40% new French oak. It has a great nose of ripe red and black fruits as well as notes of chocolate, dried herbs, and loamy soils, with subtle background oak. Medium to full-bodied, it has firm tannins, a solid core of sweet fruit, and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar and drink brilliantly over the following decade. R16-6

St. Cosme 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape
$59.99 – $318.00Southern Rhone Valley
Jeb Dunnuck 92 Rating
The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape comes from La Crau and a few other terroirs and is 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre. Blackberries, black raspberries, peppery herbs, and some solid earthy minerality give way to a medium to full-bodied, ripe, yet also structured 2019. Some 2019s can have a touch of austerity in their tannins, but this is supple and seamless. It will evolve for 10-15 years.

Wine Spectator 90 Rating
There’s a pure core of fresh blackberry, crunchy plum and violet in this vibrant version, with the subtlest brushing of vanilla. Layers of graphite and fine-grained tannins provide a solid framework. Compact, with savory details emerging toward the solid, medium-bodied finish, which is grounded in salty mineral notes and a waft of alder smoke. Drink now through 2028.
