Chateau Michel de Montaigne 2018 Red Blend
$15.99 – $132.00Bergerac France
Share Tweet
This Chateau is owned by the Mahler-Besse family, owners of Chateau Palmer in Margaux and many other first-class winemaking properties in Bordeaux and around the world. In 1964 they rebuilt this historic Bergerac property which lies less than six miles from the village of St. Emilion. The terroir is identical to right bank Bordeaux and so the vineyards hold 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon on clay and marl soils and the vines average 20 years of age. The Chateau Michel de Montaigne excels in this great vintage: presented well-colored and powerful, the tannins are present without excess. The bouquet being borne out, its powerful but silky mouth leads to predict a potential of very interesting ageing.

Chateau Michel De Vert 2019 Red Blend Lussac Saint Emilion
$15.99 – $168.00Bordeaux France
Black fruits, menthol and dark chocolate on the ripe nose. Rich, dense and chocolatey-sweet; quite full but with very good vinosity. Finishes with substantial palate-coating tannins and very good length. The terroir of Lussac is characterized by the diversity of its soils, distributed between the plateaus, the sides of the hills and small valleys. This red blend made of primarily Merlot came from vines situated in clay and limestone soil. It is a food-friendly, deep red wine full of black-plum and dark-cherry fruit ending with a supple, persistent finish.

Chateau Monbousquet 2018 Red Blend St. Emilion
$79.99Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
Another brilliant vintage for this estate, which has been going from strength to strength over the past decade, the 2018 Château Monbousquet reveals a dense purple, opaque color as well as a rich yet lively bouquet of cassis, chocolate covered currants, new leather, and graphite. With sumptuous levels of fruit, full -bodied richness, and ample mid-palate depth, it's the purity of fruit as well as the quality of the tannin's that have brought this cuvée up another notch. Readers are going to love this cuvée, and it should keep for 15-20 years. SP55-4 -
Chateau Montelena 2005 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
$149.99Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is still rich and powerful, with Bordeaux-like notes of blackcurrants, tobacco leaf, damp earth, cedar, and dried herbs. Deep, rich, and beautifully textured, with balance and length, it has silky tannins, a layered, clean texture and a great finish. It's another balanced, oh, so classic wine. SP21-1 -
Chateau Montrose 2020 Saint-Estephe
$269.99Bordeaux France
Wine Advocate 100 Rating
Surpassing the 2019 and rivaling the 2016 as this estate’s finest vintage of the last few decades, the 2020 Montrose is a monument in the making. Wafting from the glass with aromas of violets, dark berries, licorice, loamy soil, black truffle and subtle spices, it’s full-bodied, deep and layered, with a seamless, elegantly muscular profile, terrific purity and energy, beautifully powdery tannins and a long, resonant finish. It checks in at 13.7% alcohol, the same as the superb 2009, but it is even deeper, more vibrant and more complex than the 2009. This will be worth a special effort to seek out and only confirms Montrose’s status as one of the contemporary Médoc’s leading estates and a de facto first growth. Best after 2030. SPBX-6 -

Chateau Pape Clement 2018 Blanc
$179.99Pessac-Leognan Bordeaux France
James Suckling 98 Rating
Beautiful aromas of lime curd, dried pear, grilled white peach and flint on the nose. So exotic on the nose. Some cream and honey, too. It’s medium-bodied with bright, tangy acidity. Creamy and focused with lingering dried-citrus and crushed-gravel notes. Long. Drink or hold. R22-2 SPB5-2
