  • Paul Hobbs 2019 Chardonnay Russian River Valley

    $59.99

    Sonoma County California
    Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
Leading off the Chardonnay from Paul Hobbs, the 2019 Chardonnay Russian River Valley reveals a light gold hue as well as a classic, cleanly perfumed bouquet of honeyed citrus, crushed stone, white flowers, and brioche, with just a hint of toasted almond emerging with time in the glass. Medium-bodied, fresh, and lively on the palate, it gains more and more minerality as it sits in the glass. It’s flawlessly balanced, with an incredible mix of rich, ripe fruit and racy, bright acidity as well as outstanding length. This white is well worth searching out, and I would rank it with one of the top, base appellation blends in the vintage. R21-6

  • Paul Hobbs 2019 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley

    $69.99

    Sonoma County California
    Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
Moving to the reds, the 2019 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley offers a medium ruby/purple hue to go with a beautiful perfume of mulberries, black cherries, Asian spices, and roasted herbs. Playing in the medium-bodied end of the spectrum, it still brings plenty of fruit, with a great mid-palate and outstanding length on the finish. It’s common in 2019 for the Russian River Valley Pinots to show a beautiful sense of freshness and elegance, and this wine delivers those qualities in spades. It can be drunk any time over the coming 7-8 years. BX-10

  • Paul Hobbs 2023 Crossbarn Chardonnay Sonoma Coast

Bright yellow/green-hued, the 2023 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast is bottled under screwcap and is lifted and fresh with lime, white flowers, green apples, and lemon zest. It’s fantastic on the palate, with ripe acidity, a silky, stony texture, elegant ripeness, and a cleansing finish. A great value, it’s lovely now, but don’t feel hurried with this one.

  • Paul Lato 2018 Pinot Noir Solomon Hills Vineyard

    $79.99

    Santa Maria Valley California
    Jeb Dunnuck 98 Rating
Leading off the Pinot Noirs, the 2018 Suerte Solomon Hills Vineyard comes from a great vineyard just west of Bien Nacido and spent 17 months in 60% new French oak. Lots of black raspberries, spiced cherries, salty sea breeze, flowers, orange blossom, and violet notes emerge from the glass, and it's beautifully textured, full-bodied, and incredibly sexy on the palate. It's stunning today yet will evolve for upwards of a decade. SP9-7

  • Pax 2014 Syrah Castelli-Knight Ranch Russian River Valley

    $79.99

    Sonoma County California
    Antonio Galloni 94 Rating
Inky black and massively concentrated black fruit, black pepper, tar and roses complete the brilliant aromas of this classic California Syrah. A bit more of a bruiser than the 2013, this 2014 is the perfect foil for a fatty piece of Lamb or your favorite Cowboy Steak fresh off of an iron skillet. The tannins are velvety and the fruit intense, which reminds us mostly of the 2004 version of this wine with a lower abv. SP19-1

Powerful black fruits and charred-oak flavors drive this full-bodied and appropriately tannic wine as it pours out blackberries, cedar and toasted walnuts. It has the heft and concentrated fruit to pair with everything from ribs to risotto and Bolognese pasta. Best from 2025.

This layered, polished and handsomely oaked wine brims with aromas like vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. These lead to lush berry and dark plum flavors on a texture of fine-grained tannins. Velvety in mouthfeel and delicious to sip.
