Chateau Lescalle 2020 Bordeaux Superieur

Today, the winemaking at Château Lescalle is still done in the classic Médoc style. Vineyard manager Claude Gaudin rigorously follows several basic principles. Extremely dense planting of the vines (up to 5000 vines per hectare) naturally limits the yields and increases the intensity of the fruit. A long maceration ensures full extraction of the fruit flavors and is followed by aging in barriques with a just touch of new oak.

Chateau Lynch-Bages 2020 Pauillac
$164.99Bordeaux France
James Suckling 99 Rating
beautifully layered red with blackcurrant, hazelnut and lead-pencil character and fine, velvety tannins. Full-bodied and reserved. It’s like a tightly knit ball of polished tannins that are cashmere in texture. So very long and impressive. Give this time. A terrific Lynch. Better after 2027. SP56-2 SPBX-12 -

The 2019 Minervois La Livinière Les Planels reveals a deep ruby purple color as well as a beautiful nose of ripe berries (black raspberries, blackberries), peppery garrigue, violets, iron, and a touch of chalky minerality. This ripe, medium to full-bodied, seamless Syrah (there’s a splash of Grenache) has silky tannins, remarkable purity, and outstanding length. It benefits from a short decant and is a brilliant Minervois that will evolve for a solid decade.

A juicy, generous wine full of black fruits, this is still young but showing well. The fruits and ripe tannins partner well to make up the structure.

Chateau Maurac 2018 Red Blend Haut Medoc
$29.99 – $150.00Bordeaux France
Wine Enthusiast 92 Rating
A 24-acre vineyard close to Saint-Estèphe has produced this rich and dense wine. Tannins give a solid base to generous black-plum and berry fruits. Initially it seems as though this wine will develop quickly, but that is deceptive. With the tannic core and firm aftertaste, the wine will take its time. Drink from 2024.

Chateau Mauvesin Barton 2015 Moulis-en-Medoc
$29.99Bordeaux France
Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
The fifth vintage from this estate since its purchase by the Barton family of Léoville Barton in Saint-Julien, this is a generous, structured wine. It has ripe black fruits in profusion that are held together by the serious layer of tannins. Rich and concentrated, the wine will age for many years. Drink from 2024. (Editor's Choice) SP56-9
