E. Guigal 2020 Condrieu La Doriane
$119.99 – $660.00Northern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 99 Rating
Just about pure perfection and one of the finest Condrieu to pass my lips, the 2020 Condrieu La Doriane offers an insane bouquet of grilled pineapple, charcoal, crushed stone, acacia flowers, and white peach. It picks up an incredibly sense of salinity on the palate and is full-bodied, has blockbuster concentration, remarkable purity and focus, and a great finish. I like this beast/beauty today, but it will keep for a decade. SPB10-6

E. Guigal 2020 Cotes du Rhone
$16.99 – $180.00Southern Rhone Valley France
Wine Advocate 90 Rating
Significantly impacted by its elevated Syrah content, Guigal’s 2020 Cotes du Rhone boasts expressive aromas of blackberries and blueberries, backed by ample black cherries. It’s full-bodied yet supple and fluid, easy to drink and enjoy, with enough black olive and earth notes to ground it and keep it from being a simple fruit bomb.

E. Guigal 2021 Tavel Rose
$21.99 – $228.00Southern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 91 Rating
Tavel is richer than the Côtes Du Rhône (as expected) and has a more ruby/salmon hue as well as textbook Tavel notes of wild strawberries, framboise, spice, and even a hint of garrigue. It’s medium-bodied and textured, with a clean, dry finish.

Yellow gold, clear and brilliant. Freshness on the nose marked by the distinctive aromas of Viognier; white flowers, apricot, acacia and white peach. On the palate it is fruity with plenty of richness and body. A well-rounded wine with elegance, strength and balance.

E. Guigal Chateau D’Ampuis 2019 Cote-Rotie
$179.99 – $900.00Northern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
The 2019 Côte Rôtie Chateau D’Ampuis is another beautiful, layered, incredibly impressive wine. Ripe darker fruits, smoked meats, tapenade, and ground pepper all define the bouquet, and it’s full-bodied, with a wealth of baby fat, lots of tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s certainly in line with past vintages and perhaps shows a touch more tannic structure than the 2018.

Faiveley 2020 Chambolle Musigny
$99.99Burgundy France
A beautiful, brilliant garnet-red color. The nose is very pretty with woody and fruity notes. On the palate are grilled and fruity, very ripe cherry aromas. The tannins are present without being too intrusive or aggressive. An elegant wine, fine and pedigreed. Serve with with grapes, duck breast with mushrooms, roast turkey, and any games dish. SP1-2 -
Faiveley 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
$249.99Burgundy France
Decanter Magazine 96 Rating
The wine has an inky dark color and pronounced aromas of blackberry, fig, smoke and spice. The texture is lush, yet there are firm tannins and the wine never seems overbearing or aggressive – everything is kept in elegant balance. Faiveley is the proprietor of three parcels that total 1.27ha in the Clos de Vougeot, including a portion in Grand Maupertuis and two parcels nearer the bottom. The fruit was picked very ripe (14.5%) and partially destemmed before fermentation, with a very careful extraction and ageing in cask (half new). SPBX-6 -

Aromatic and loaded with exotic spices, showing sandalwood, incense, strawberry, cherry and anise aromas and flavors. Simultaneously dense and elegant, with fine harmony and a terrific finish. Just keeps building and building on the palate to the long, kaleidoscopic conclusion. Best from 2026 through 2043. 17 cases imported. SPBX-6 -

Exotic, dark and turbo-charged, this wine is wound up with sweet black plums and blackberries, anise and forest floor. It’s definitely a wine for those that like bolder, chunkier Pinots, whether you drink it soon or wait a few decades. Speaking of which, Jérôme feels strongly that it is best to wait ten years before trying this wine. For the less patient, I implore you to wait at least six or seven years! 2026-42. SP4-3
