Grattamacco 2019 Bolgheri Superiore
$119.99Tuscany Italy
Jeb Dunnuck 98 Rating
Reserved layers and depth slowly begin to emerge from the 2019 Grattamacco, so it is going to need time in cellar to open and show itself. As it opens in the glass, it reveals attractive dark mineral earth, kirsch, black pepper spice, and balsamic. It is concentrated and compact at this stage, with savory richness, and it displays full and balanced structure, ripe and present tannins, and notes of cassis, cedar, and pine resin. It reveals rich complexity without ever feeling murky, and its energetic tension takes this wine to the next level. Drink 2025-2050. R23-7 SPBX-6 -

Beautiful center palate of fruit here with ripe and silky tannins that are resolved and fine-grained. Full-bodied, polished and ever so refined. Oyster shell, stone and hints of rosemary and lavender. Driven finish. Better after 2022. R39-1 -
Guado al Tasso 2019 Bolgheri Superiore
$139.99Tuscany Italy
James Suckling 98 Rating
This has a wild and perfumed nose of dried thyme, sage, blackberries, cocoa, graphite and white and green peppercorns. Then dried flowers. Full-bodied with firm, tight and precise tannins. Vibrant. There’s so much character and structure. A new benchmark for this winery. More cabernet franc than in the past. Best yet? 65% cabernet sauvignon, 25% cabernet franc and 10% merlot. Try from 2025. Guado al Tasso 2022 iL Bruciato
$28.99 – $276.00Tuscany Italy
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
An opaque purple blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, the 2022 Il Bruciato is luxurious with notes of blackberry liqueur and some blue fruit coming through along with notes of violets, olive, and black licorice. Full-bodied, with a weightless and seamless feel, it has no harsh edges and offers ripe tannins with a supple texture, fresh acidity, and clean ripeness through a rather long finish. This gorgeous wine checks a lot of boxes and is drinking beautifully now. It offers a lot of finesse as well as a wide drinking window. Drink 2024-2040.

I Greppi 2021 Greppicaia Bolgheri Superiore
$69.99 – $360.00Tuscany Italy
Decanter 94 Rating
The 2021 Greppicaia includes a hefty dose of Petit Verdot, which lends richness and spice to the mix. Bold aromas of fresh red berries and some dried cherry introduce an intense and concentrated palate where the wood is currently in the front seat and the tannins have an overt, powdery texture. Creamy and peppery, there is nevertheless some succulent fruit lurking in the background and with time will emerge – the potential is certainly there in its long, fresh character and poised posture. Owned by Irish geologist, Dr Neil McMahon and his family since 2017, I Greppi has benefitted from his scientific approach, which includes a joint long-term research project with University of California, UC Davis, who also helped with the development of an on-site ’eno lab’…” 09/24
