  • Paolo Scavino 2020 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio

    $74.99$390.00

    Piedmont Italy
    Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
Deep ruby/red, the 2020 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio boasts a very pretty and detailed bouquet with a floral perfume of ripe raspberries, violets, lilac, and wet stone. Elegant and medium-bodied, it has a lot of graceful details, with fine tannins, lovely concentration and a lovely and linear feel without any austerity. It has a Burgundian aesthetic and is a very well-styled wine from this site. Drink 2025-2040.

  • Paolo Scavino 2020 Barolo Prapo

    $89.99$450.00

    Piedmont Italy
    Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
Dark red in color, the 2020 Barolo Prapo displays a riper and sunnier profile, with rich aromas of black cherries, lavender oil, balsamic, and tarry earth. Medium to full-bodied, it’s weightless on the palate, with a savory note of tea leaf upfront as well as hints of cherry pit and walnut, and it has a long finish. It’s a bit more broad-shouldered but wears it with a graceful touch. Drink 2026-2046.

  • Paolo Scavino 2020 Barolo Ravera

    $89.99$450.00

    Piedmont Italy
    Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
Dark ruby, the 2020 Barolo Ravera is expressive and leads with mineral-tinged aromas of graphite, raspberry liqueur, sweet flowers, pine, and mossy earth. Medium-bodied, it displays more intensity on the palate, with an elegant but more chiseled feel, ripe tannins, even, energetic acidity, and a mouthwatering finish. It’s going to benefit from another couple years in bottle. Drink 2026-2046.

  • Paolo Scavino 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo

    $26.99$264.00

    Piedmont Italy
The 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo is another terrific entry-level wine from Scavino. It shows good depth and plenty of intensity, especially in its peer group. This is far from an easygoing wine. Readers will find a Nebbiolo redolent of dark red cherry, dried herb, cedar, mint, licorice and incense. The 2022 will delight readers on a budget.

  • Pecchenino 2021 Dogliani San Luigi

    $14.99

    Piedmont Italy
    Wine Spectator 93 Rating
Bright cherry, kirsch, raspberry and floral aromas and flavors are the hallmarks of this rich, vibrant and harmonious Dolcetto, which has plenty of structure, building to a long, complex aftertaste of fruit and mineral.

  • Piero Benevelli 2016 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte

    $59.99

    Piedmont Italy
    Vinous 95 Rating
The 2016 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte is gorgeous. Dried herbs, crushed flowers, mint, licorice, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco give the 2016 striking aromatic nuance to match its mid-weight personality. There is a sense of translucence in the 2016 that is just compelling. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2016 has a ton of richness that emerges over time. The Le Coste spent 25 months in 40HL cask. I loved it. R2-2

Poggio Antico brings us a classic expression of Sangiovese in its 2015 Brunello di Montalcino. The warm vintage has shaped more density and volume in the fruit, but fundamentally this wine holds tight to the bright and fresh taste profile that is characteristic of Brunello. The key is the acidity that remains an integral and important element in the fundamental architecture of this wine. That natural crispness serves to underline lively fruit flavors of wild cherry and pressed violets. Background tones of earth and black licorice also appear. The team at Poggio Antico, located at one of the highest altitudes in the appellation (from 500 to 550 meters above sea level), has worked well to preserve the cool climate characteristics in this very warm and sunny vintage. A bright red color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino is floral and aromatic of preserved strawberries, baby powder, and herbes de Provence. Medium-bodied, it has refined ripe tannins, even acidity, and a clean, stony textured finish. A lovely and charming wine, it’s drinking well now and will drink well over the coming 8-10 years. BX-24

  • Poggio Antico 2019 Madre Toscana

    $44.99$240.00

    Tuscany Italy
    Wine Advocate 94 Rating
A 50-50 blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2019 Madre is a fun wine and one that I readily recommend, especially for pasta night with the family at the kitchen table. This is a medium to full-bodied red with lots of pretty layering of dark fruit, spice, tar and cured leather. The wine is never too savory or spicy, and in fact, it makes terrific use of its natural primary intensity. It also shows good richness and a smooth entry to the palate.
