Castello di Volpaia 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva
$39.99Tuscany Italy
Wine Spectator 97 Rating
Enticing aromas of black cherry, black currant and violet are allied to flavors of iron, wet earth and spice in this red, which is loaded with fruit, vibrant acidity and well-mannered tannins. Shows terrific harmony now, yet possesses the structure to age. The long, mouthwatering finish extends the dark fruit and mineral elements. Best from 2021 through 2040. BX-6 SP47-6 -
Castiel Estate 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain
$189.99Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
Coming from two sites on Howell Mountain, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a brilliant effort that readers should jump on if given the chance. Classic mountain aromatics of black fruits, tobacco, chocolate, and mineral-like nuances define the bouquet, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a layered mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. The balance is terrific, and this will benefit from just a few years of bottle age and should have 20-25 years of overall longevity. R37-3 -
Castiglion del Bosco 2016 Brunello di Montalcino
$79.99Tuscany Italy
James Suckling 99 Rating
The complexity and beauty to this is really something with cherry, walnut, tobacco and cigar-box character. Sweet cherries. It’s full-bodied and deep with super intensity and power. Layered and beautiful. Really refined tannins. Some whole-berry fermentation gives this added character. Goes on for minutes. Try after 2025. SP48-3 -

Caterwaul 2018 Regusci Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
$99.99Napa Valley California
Antonio Galloni 95 Rating
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Regusci Vineyard is a powerful, dense wine. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, chocolate, spice, licorice and lavender infuse the 2018 with tons of richness. Tasted next to the Cemetery, the Regusci is a bit more overt and opulent in style, with ripeness pushed to the max. The 2018 turns up the dial on everything; fruit intensity, acid and tannin. It is a decidedly flamboyant Cabernet from this historic Stags Leap property. -
Caterwaul 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon
$59.99Napa Valley California
This vintage of Caterwaul expresses an impressive array of decadent fruit, exotic spice, and mouth-watering structure. In the glass, the wine exhibits a completely opaque, deep purple hue with a dark violet halo. Aromas swell from the glass in waves of black cherry, plum reduction, aromatic wood, eucalyptus, and pine bough. The palate is marked by a very sleek, polished mouthfeel. Complex notes of roasted meat, cassis, quince, macerated blackberry, and nutmeg are intricately layered, framed by a complimentary acidity. This wine offers a wealth of pure Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon character that is readily accessible today and should age well in the cellar for decades. R31-6 -

Cayuse 2016 Syrah En Cerise Vineyard
$139.99Walla Walla Valley
Jeb Dunnuck 99 Rating
The 2016 Syrah En Cerise Vineyard is another winner (best to date?), showing an incredibly bloody, iron quality as well as beautiful purity in its bright cherry, blackberries, violets, pork fat, and acacia flower aromas and flavors. Seamless, silky, gorgeous, and perfectly balanced, it's another heavenly wine from Baron that’s going to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise for 10-15. R10-1 -

$79.99Veneto Italy
Wine Spectator 94 Rating
The Cesari 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Il Bosco delivers on the basic promises of a wine made with the appassimento process. There are plenty of rich, dried fruit layers with fig, prune and raisin. This full-bodied blend of 80% Corvina and 20% Rondinella wraps thickly over the palate, imparting big ripeness, texture and intensity. R20-1
