Domaine de Ferrand 2022 Cotes du Rhone Mistral
$19.99 – $102.00Southern Rhone Valley France
James Suckling 92 Rating
Freshly opened, this youthful Cotes du Rhone is brimming with ripe cherry fruit, then with a little aeration in the glass the aromas expand to include a slew of red berry fruit and spices. On the medium- to full-bodied palate, the balance of restrained ripeness and healthy dry tannins is spot-on. Long, polished finish with plenty of energy.

Domaine de la Chapelle 2022 Pouilly-Fuisse Vieilles Vignes
$39.99 – $210.00Burgundy France
Vinous 93 Rating
The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Vielles Vignes, taken as a barrel sample, has a backward nose at the moment that was difficult to read. However, the palate is vibrant and slightly viscous in texture, with another impressive bead of acidity that foments tension. Of course, it’s very primal at the moment, but there is a dab of licorice emerging on the finish that I find intriguing. Look out for this.

Domaine de la Chapelle 2023 Pouilly-Fuisse Les Grands Climats
$39.99 – $210.00Burgundy France
Located in the heart of the appellation, in the hamlet of Pouilly, the Domaine de la Chapelle covers 7.42 hectares. The average age of the vines is about 60 years. This allows us to harvest highly concentrated grapes for better vintages. An advantageous microclimate (south, south-east exposure), combined with a marly clay-limestone soil, allows the Chardonnay grape variety to express itself fully. Very environmentally friendly cultivation method (ploughing of the soil, exclusively organic fertiliser, etc.). The harvest is entirely manual.

Domaine De La Janasse 2020 Chateauneuf Du Pape Chaupin
$89.99Southern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 99 Rating
I was blown away by the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Chaupin, a 100% Grenache release that comes almost exclusively from the Chaupin lieu-dit in the northern part of the appellation. It's never as inky-hued or powerful as the Vieilles Vignes but always screams Grenache with its sexy, ripe, seamless, and remarkably elegant style. The 2020 offers a translucent ruby/purple hue as well as incredible aromatics of blackberries, black raspberries, peppery garrigue, herbes de Provence, and flowers, and it opens up nicely with time in the glass. Full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, it has silky tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. I finished my note with “a Grenache lover's dream.” This is up with the finest vintages produced and will evolve for 15+ years. SP33-10 -
Domaine de la Solitude 2020 Cotes Du Rhone Red
$14.99 – $168.00Southern Rhone Valley France
James Suckling 92 Rating
Tons of black-cherry and ripe-blackberry fruit, but not a jot overripe. This is a bold and substantial wine for the appellation, thanks to the healthy dose of soft tannin. Plenty of licorice and spice, plus a hint of tar at the long finish. Carries 14% alcohol effortlessly! A GSM blend of 50% grenache, 40% syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Drink now.

Domaine de Terrebrune 2022 Bandol Rose
$39.99 – $396.00Provence France
Terrebrune’s Bandol epitomizes this idea of a terroir-driven Rosé, from the nose of thyme and white peach, redolent of a Provençal summer, to its mouthwateringly salty finish, a reminder that the sea is just a stone’s throw away.

Domaine Della 2018 Pinot Noir
$69.99Santa Lucia Highlands California

Located south of Monterey, the Santa Lucia Highlands is a great AVA that produces an amazing amount of outstanding Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrahs. Starting with the appellation 2018 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands, it comes all from the Soberanes Vineyard (in the relative center/southern end of the appellation) and spent 15 months in 47% new French oak. This beautiful, elegant, complex wine displays the fruit-loaded style of the appellation yet stays balanced, nicely textured, and even elegant. Black cherries, black raspberries, leafy herbs, a touch of flowers, and some earthy/forest floor notes all emerge from the glass, and it hits the palate with a soft, supple texture, again, terrific balance, and a great finish. It's slightly less expensive than the single vineyard, but I think it’s just as good. SP1-4 -
Domaine Denis Race 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains

This is a very approachable Montmains, with an appealing combination of ripe fruit and bright acidity. Clean, fresh and drinking well already. On their 18ha estate, Denis, Laurence and daughters Claire and Marine manage vines that are up to 90 years old.

Domaine des Aubuisieres 2023 Vouvray Cuvee de Silex
$22.99 – $228.00Loire Valley France
Bernard Fouquet, a quiet-spoken man, is making some of the most serious Vouvray of the last few vintages. He is now regarded in France and the international press as one of the top three Vouvray producers. No one succeeds better than Bernard in capturing the mineral tones unique to Vouvray’s soil, with the marvelous balance of explosive fruit and titillating sensation of the Chenin Blanc grape. Sensational value.
