  • Robert Foley Vineyards 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon

    $89.99

    Napa Valley California
    Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
Not far off the flagship cuvée, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is 100% varietal sourced from Howell Mountain, Atlas Peak, Mt. Veeder, and Calistoga. It spent 18 months in just 40% new French oak. This full-bodied, incredibly classic Cabernet offers impressive crème de cassis, graphite, and lead pencil notes, terrific mid-palate depth, a wonderful sweetness in its fruit, and a great finish. It’s another terrific wine from this estate that you can drink today or cellar for 15 years or more. R30-4 SP22-2

100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Atlas Peak. The 2014 vintage produced fruit with firm acidity, small berries, and soft tannins. On the nose, there’s black fruit, black berry, black current–screaming with ripeness. Full-bodied on the palate, with a rich mid-palate, fine tannins, and smooth finish, which, with the wine’s natural acidity, goes on and on and on. R30-1

  • Robert Foley Vineyards 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon

    $99.99

The Napa Valley Cabernet combines the character of the four AVAs where we farm Cabernet Sauvignon. Weathered high-elevation vineyards on Howell Mountain, Atlas Peak, and Mt Veeder provide intensity of color, higher acidity levels and spiciness from the surrounding forests. The lower elevation blocks of southern and northern Calistoga with rocky soils and more extreme heat summation provide then lush mid-palate and fine tannin – the perfect Yin and Yang with which to blend this 100% Cabernet. Ripe black cherry and rhubarb pie aromas, a thick almost sweet mouth-coating middle give way to the elegant finish. Oak character is well-integrated with the fruit. SP22-1

Beautiful cassis, graphite, dark chocolate, and floral hints emerge from the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is medium to full-bodied and has great tannins as well as a balanced, classical style. A terrific 2017 that shines on all accounts, it should keep for 10-15 years.

I loved the 2017 Merlot from Foley, a medium to full-bodied, rounded, undeniably delicious Merlot offering textbook dark cherry, chocolate, tobacco, and baking spice aromas and flavors. A mix of valley floor and hillside fruit, aged 20 months in 30% new barrels, it's going to drink well for 10-15 years. R42-2

Harvest of 2017 was unusually early for us, so the wildfires that ravaged Napa and Sonoma counties that year, happened while our wines were already in tank or barrel. We were thankfully spared from the flames and any smoke damage to our fruit. This wine is 100% varietal Petite Sirah – dark as can be with utterly ripe blackberry-pie aromatics. On the palate, it’s full, round, and massive, but with an elegant finish, fine tannins, and nothing overly gripping. BX-10

  • Robert Mondavi 2013 Oakville BDX Red

    $59.99

    Napa Valley California
A concentration of black cherry, vanilla and sweet spice form the backbone of this intensely dark-fruited, structured wine, with a subtle layer of earthy garrigue (fragrant dried brush of southern France) adding complexity to the full, creamy palate. Focused and harmonious, this is a powerful expression of Oakville in a Bordeaux blend. R29-2

Aromas of flower, tile and currant follow through to a full body that's nevertheless tight and reserved. Such beauty at the finish. A pretty wine. Hard not to drink now. SP21-2

The base 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is certainly impressive, and since there are roughly 90,000 cases, it’s an incredible achievement. Classic darker currants, tobacco leaf, truffly earth, and spicy oak all define the bouquet, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with ripe tannins, terrific balance, and outstanding length. Based off 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec, buy a case and enjoy bottles over the coming 10-15 years.
