This is a fun and fruit-focused Rosso that maintains wonderful balance, and I love how savory, almost salty it is at times.

Collefrisio 2019 Vignaquadra Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

The wood-aged Vignaquadra is one of the best wines of this dynamic wine company. Only late harvested grapes are used, which give the wine extra concentration and ripeness. Part of the Montepulciano matures in tanks and another part in oak barrels. As a result, the wood ripening in the final assembly is very dosed and the characteristic fruity and spicy flavors from Abruzzo are fully preserved. This is a truly beautiful red wine, which comes into its own best after some aeration. It goes very well with grilled meat or baguette with sausage and cheese. Despite its strength, it is a true four-season wine that – if slightly cooled – is very tasty even on a hot day.
