Collefrisio 2019 Vignaquadra Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
$21.99 – $216.00Italy
The wood-aged Vignaquadra is one of the best wines of this dynamic wine company. Only late harvested grapes are used, which give the wine extra concentration and ripeness. Part of the Montepulciano matures in tanks and another part in oak barrels. As a result, the wood ripening in the final assembly is very dosed and the characteristic fruity and spicy flavors from Abruzzo are fully preserved. This is a truly beautiful red wine, which comes into its own best after some aeration. It goes very well with grilled meat or baguette with sausage and cheese. Despite its strength, it is a true four-season wine that – if slightly cooled – is very tasty even on a hot day.

Colleleva 2022 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi
$13.99 – $144.00Marche Italy
Here is a wine that is screaming value. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi are wines that are perfect for a leisurely glass of wine. The juice comes from 30 years old vines which are established in sandy tufo soils of La Marche, giving the wine more depth than most in its price class. The use of only stainless steel keeps the wine fresh and pure. Very expressive fruit that is juicy and crisp due to a small amount of CO2 left in the bottle.

ColleMassari 2017 Montecucco Rosso Riserva
$21.99 – $216.00Tuscany Italy
Antonio Galloni 93 Rating
Dark and seductive, the 2017 Rosso Riserva Montecucco lulls you in with a bouquet that blends dusty black cherries and red currants with sweet mint leaf and hints of clove. There are depths of soft, fleshy textures within, balanced by brisk acids, masses of tart blackberry fruit and balsam herbal tones. This reverberates with youthful tension, leaving a saturation of primary concentration upon the palate, framed by a coating of grippy tannins. While you can sense the warmth and dry conditions of the vintage here, the 2017 overdelivers, coming across as more immediate than expected, yet balanced enough to excel through short-term cellaring. The Rosso Riserva is a blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Ciliegiolo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon refined for sixteen months in a combination of forty-hectoliter casks and five-hundred-liter tonneaux.

Colosi 2023 Salina Bianco Sicily
$24.99 – $240.00Italy
Obtained from Inzolia and Catarratto grapes, it fully encapsulates the area thanks to the characteristics brought by the volcanic soils, rich in magnesium and potassium, the lack of water and the intense sunshine. It is a white wine of great distinction, with strong hints of ripe fruit and exotic fruits. The wine has the typical sensations of the mediterranean scrub. It has the intense flavor of white peach. Excellent with hors d’oeuvres, fish and seafood.

James Suckling 89 Rating
Some dried herbs to the red cherries, red plums and haw fruit. Elegant and easy, with soft tannins on the medium-bodied palate. Nothing very ‘complicated’ here despite the name, but pretty well-balanced. Has some simple pinot characters with an ephemeral finish. Drink now.

Flattering, with ripe, minty blackberries, black plums, tobacco, hazelnuts and a hint of mocha. A full-bodied, tightly wound red with powerful but creamy tannins that will need a year or two to soften more. Long, creamy finish. Drink after 2023.
