A fuller, yet bright and refreshing style of Chardonnay, this wine has a golden straw presence in the glass with a bouquet of raw honey, marmalade, fresh citrus zest, toasted pine nuts, rocky flints, all spice, toasted oak and lusciousness on the nose that is ever so inviting. Croix Estate 2021 Floodgate Pinot Noir Middle Reach Russian River Valley $74.99 bottle
This is a classic, Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Fans of full-bodied, concentrated styles will absolutely love what this wine has to offer. Spicey aromas of cinnamon, cardamom, and anise mingle with dark cherry perfume, cola, sweet smoked tobacco leaf, and toasted vanillin. Compact, extracted, and viscous on the palate, the wine has substantial power and glide featuring dark black cherry, savory caramel, black plum pie, supported with balanced acidity to lift the wine into a harmonious balance of rich and racy. 100% Pellenc Destemmed, 5 Day Cold Soak, 100% Carbonic D254 Inoculation Open Top Fermentation with Hand Punch Down Cap Submersion. 50% New French Oak for 15 months.

Venge Vineyards 2021 Scout’s Honor Red Blend Napa Valley $39.99 bottle
Full-bodied, concentrated and gorgeous, this vintage features an assemblage of violets, dried cinnamon, white flowers, fresh cut blue herbs, and a touch of barrel toast. The palate has loads black fruits and sweet currants, pepper spice, and an enveloping masculinity of char and tannins from the Syrah, Charbono and Petite Sirah. A seamless balance and mouth coating deliciousness lead to a wine that is quite pleasing to the senses. Cellared correctly it will age for 7 to 10 years.

Venge Vineyards 2021 Signal Fire Zinfandel Calistoga Napa Valley $59.99 bottle
Eight acres of gnarly old-vine Zinfandel from the Signal Fire Vineyard, located in northern Calistoga, produce this dense wine with loads of blackberries, white pepper spice, sweet honeysuckle, and crushed herbs. This is approachable upon release and will age when cellared correctly, for 5 to 8 years. The small, individual lots of fruit were destemmed into open top fermenters, where a 5-day cold soak took place. The process of cooling the cap releases color and flavor pre-fermentation. The fermentation was allowed to slowly take hold via native yeast. Whole-berry fermentation took place for an average of 22 days. The wine was barrel aged in both new American Oak and once used tight grain French Oak. No conventional pumps were used in the making of this wine. Only diaphragm air pumps, forced air pressure movement, or bulldogging, and transfers by gravity were employed to preserve the pure fruit integrity in the wine.

Venge Vineyards 2021 Silencieux Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley $74.99 bottle
The highest quality crop not witnessed in years. I know, I put a lot of eggs in the basket of vintage 2018. However, friends, brace yourself for some delicious, superior quality wines coming from 2021. Across the board—from Chardonnay through to Cabernet Sauvignon— we are looking at magnificent concentrations of color and flavor that forecast a stellar vintage to come.
There is something magical that happens to a vineyard when water is scarce. Cluster sets are reduced naturally, grape size shrinks the skin-to-pulp ratio, and energy is driven to protect the crop that is left. We manually thin in all vintages to balance the ratios on the vine; however, it is Mother Nature’s culling that always works wonders for producing wines of profound resilience. The only downside in this natural selection scenario is crop yield. Vintage 2021 will see significant reductions in yield from 30% to 50% less than normal years. For example, our Bone Ash Vineyard Old Vine Block, which produces our vineyard designate Cabernet Sauvignon, yielded 45% less than 2019 (we lost the 2020 vintage of this wine to cinder and smoke, so we have no yield comparison). Where we normally bottle anywhere from 395 to 480 cases of our Bone Ash Cabernet, we can safely say that the production of the 2021 will be cut by more than half. This vintage takes Venge’s Silencieux to another level. Kirk Venge.

Venge Vineyards 2021 Igneous Cabernet Sauvignon Calistoga Napa Valley $109.99 bottle
Born from fire and magmatic rock, Igneous Cabernet Sauvignon pays homage to the volcanic nature of Calistoga. Situated at the gateway of the Napa River headwaters and the alluvial base of Mount Saint Helena, we find magmatic forces that jettison healing hot springs, mineral rich soils, and a slightly warmer than average growing environment. Ideal conditions for producing perfection in the glass.
